CIDEIM and AIGHD research teams, working on the social science component of Yellow4FLAVI, visited Cali’s vaccination programme in Colombia to gain deeper insights into public attitudes toward novel vaccine technologies. This visit was part of a broader effort to understand how vaccine delivery systems operate across the city and how public health communication campaigns can be optimized.

Guided by key figures in the vaccination programme, the team explored the successes and challenges of vaccine distribution to a diverse population across the city. They observed how healthcare professionals tailor their local outreach efforts to meet the specific needs of Cali’s diverse communities The team was impressed by vaccination programme leaders’ in-depth knowledge of the communities that they serve and by the responsiveness of the programmes to the needs and preferences of the communities.

By engaging directly with vaccination leaders and frontline workers, the team gathered valuable perspectives that will inform strategies to enhance vaccine confidence and accessibility. This collaborative approach is crucial for strengthening immunization efforts and ensuring that innovative vaccine technologies against flaviviruses in endemic areas are effectively introduced to the public.
